Derald Leaming

Retired Lieutenant Derald Leaming passed away on November 25, 2025.  Per Derald's wishes his remains have been cremated and there will be no funeral services.  A celebration of life is being considered for a future date.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Derald Leaming joined the ranks of the Des Moines Police Department in 1954. 

This photograph was published in the 59th annual ball book in 1969 when he was the Lieutenant of the Patrol Division's Fourth Platoon.  Lieutenant Leaming retired in 1991 and enjoyed 34 years of retirement.  Lieutenant Leaming was the oldest living member of our association, reaching the age of 96 years old.
