Arthur "Mick" McBride

Arthur “Mick” McBride III, 77, of Decatur, Iowa, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and
Savior on August 8, 2025.
Mick was born on July 9, 1948, in Burbank, California, to Arthur “Art” and Dorothy McBride.
He graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 1966 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the
United States Marine Corps. Following boot camp, he was stationed in Yuma, Arizona, where he
met the love of his life, Brenda. They were happily married for 57 years.
A proud Marine, Mick served in Vietnam, where he was wounded in combat and honored with
the Purple Heart Medal. After his military service, Mick and Brenda made their home in Des
Moines and later Norwalk, Iowa. In 1971, Mick joined the Des Moines Police Department,
dedicating 32 years to serving and protecting his community before retiring in 2003.
In retirement, Mick and Brenda traveled extensively across the country in their fifth-wheel
camper, eventually settling on a peaceful acreage in Decatur. There, Mick embraced a quieter
life, trading his RV adventures for time spent with his tractor.
Mick is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda; their children A.A. “Mac” (Jessica) McBride IV
of Norwalk, IA; Susan (Lamont) Tobey of Kingsland, GA; and Shawn (Tyler) Cornell of
Ankeny, IA; 11 grandchildren — A.A. “Max” McBride V, Addison McBride, Finn McBride,
Julio “Sam” Martinez, Adam Martinez, Mikayla Martinez, Kyle West, Mallorie Cox, Rachel
Morgan, Natasha Cornell, and Austin Cornell — and nine great-grandchildren along with many
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Kathy Jo McBride
and Beth Frascatore.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 16, at 12:00 p.m. at Living Hope Church
in Leon, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to EveryStep Hospice or the Gary Sinise
Foundation.
